Aid impact

Development cooperation has undergone considerable transformations in the past 20 years with the emergence of new players, partnership models and funding mechanisms, and the growing recognition of the importance of local ownership and participation. These changes hold the promise of transitioning from traditional, top-down aid models towards more nuanced and cooperative approaches that better address the complexities of development challenges.

Challenges persist, however, including issues of inequality and weak political institutions in many developing countries, now aggravated by the rise of global crises such as climate change, the resurgence of conflicts, and pandemics. Navigating these transformations and addressing persistent challenges will be crucial for fostering genuine progress in the 21st century.

The experts of Future Horizons have a strong track record in supporting development actors through in-depth analyses of development issues, evaluations of aid programmes, and strategic advice in a wide range of sectors and development contexts. The projects below are recent examples of our work in this area.
